Abstract

The application of meritocracy in promoting the organization and increasing its efficiency and effectiveness (productivity) is one of the necessities and concerns of today's organizations. Considering the fact that in the set of factors affecting the successful performance of a team research activity, the "research team manager" plays a pivotal and decisive role, a study was conducted with the aim of "developing a competency model for the manager of research teams (case study: one of the military strategic studies centers)". This research is developmental-applied in terms of type and mixed (quantitative and qualitative) in terms of research method. The statistical population of this study is the managers of successful research teams, managers and employees related to them in this military strategic studies center, and the snowball sampling method and interview tool. The research results also provide a model in three dimensions with the order of priority: 1- Knowledge competencies (including components: management knowledge, scientific research knowledge, military knowledge, research subject knowledge) 2- Functional competencies (including components: direct role, supervisory role) 3- Cognitive-behavioral competencies (including components: individual, value) and a total of 41 indicators. The proposal presented in this research is to utilize the results obtained in order to identify, evaluate, rank, and empower the managers of research teams in the Center for Strategic Military Studies.
