Managers always play an important and vital role in organizations. The influence of outstanding managers on organizational success is undeniable. The aim of the current research is to design the model of competencies of strategic managers of the organizations of the Republic of Iraq and to provide ways of developing their competencies.. In order to achieve this model, this research seeks to answer the question, what is the model of competencies of Iraqi strategic managers? This research In terms of its purpose, is a type of developmental research and based on epistemological assumptions, it is a type of mixed research (quantitative and qualitative). The statistical population of this research includes two groups of scientific experts and managers working in strategic levels jobs. The sampling method of this research is purposive sampling and the sample size is 59 people. Data collection tools include in-depth interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis is based on using structural equation modeling method. The findings of this research have led to the presentation of the competency model of strategic managers of the Republic of Iraq that are in three dimensions: general competencies with 2 components and 24 indicators; Managerial competencies with 5 components and 47 indicators and scholastic competencies with 3 components and 39 indicators were approved by the experts. Also, in this research, for all competency indicators of managers, methods and techniques of competency development were presented.
